And if you’re short on time or particularly lazy (or both), a mix or powder are generally the easiest to prepare without much effort. Concentrates work best for those who want a strong cup. Each style has its strengths. Single-serve bags work best for those who seek precise brew strength because you can control how long they steep for. One shot of espresso (1 fluid ounce) contains 63 milligrams of caffeine. Though you may notice the strong taste in instant coffee, it actually packs less punch. One cup (8 fluid ounces) of regular-brewed coffee contains 92 milligrams of caffeine. That’s not to say there aren’t good powdered instant coffees - there are - but my favorites also come as single-serve bags, concentrates, and even latte mixes (none of which made me react like Ross and Chandler when they tried instant lattes on Friends). According to the USDA, one 2-gram packet of instant coffee contains 63 milligrams of caffeine. For those who haven’t had it in awhile - or ever - instant coffee now comes in lots more forms than the chalky powder you might think of. Created by Starbucks ® master blenders and roasted to perfection, our Medium Roast is a balanced Latin American coffee with creamy notes of milk chocolate and nuts. ![]() After spending more than a year trying more than two dozen kinds of instant coffee, I now consider myself a bit of a connoisseur. But my love for Jot - which my coffee-snob boyfriend also approved of - got me wondering if there were other instant varieties that are just as good. Even non–coffee snobs like me know that instant coffee has always had a reputation as sort of the Franzia of the coffee world: a cheap (and cheap-tasting) imitation of the real thing. Not willing to give up my routine or caffeine, I took a chance on Jot, an instant coffee that, to my surprise (and delight), tasted comparable to what I was used to from my coffee shop. Grown on some of the highest coffee farms in the majestic Andes mountain range, our medium-roasted Colombia is complex with herbal notes and a walnutlike finish. Last year when everything closed down, I was forced to quit my habit of picking up a latte at the café down the street. A smooth instant coffee with a signature nutty flavor. But when I drink it, I only drink one cup, which has never seemed enough to make investing in even a cheap coffee-maker worthwhile. It’s not that I don’t like coffee - I very much enjoy it. I don’t own a coffee machine and I have no interest in getting one. There are few pleasures in life greater than watching the sun rise over glorious mountain peaks on a cold morning while sipping a steaming hot cup of ebony goodness.Photo-Illustration: The Strategist. The perfect espresso drink always starts with the highest-quality Arabica beans perfectly roasted to our specifications. My camping coffee kit now consists of about 1/10th of what it did 6 months ago, and that can only be a good thing. I'm glad I did! This stuff, while not as rich and full-bodied as a good cup of home brew, is pretty damned close, and it comes in the smallest, easiest-to-pack setup available. This Premium Instant Coffee is created by Starbucks master blenders using high quality 100 Arabica beans, then carefully roasted and finely ground to bring you the best tasting coffee at the comfort of your home. My youngest daughter brought some home one evening, and hounded me for an hour to give one of them a go, and I did so just to get her to ease up. Starbucks Medium Roast Premium Instant Coffee 90g. Starbucks® Premium Instant Coffee - Made with the same 100 arabica beans, so you can make your favourite coffee in an instant. All of that has changed since I tried the Via instant coffees. Our Premium Instant Coffees are inspired by our iconic coffeehouse beverages, expertly blended together with 100 Arabica coffee. I will also admit to an aversion to anything from Starbuck's. Over the years I've used espresso makers for backpacking, drip filter holders of all shapes and sizes, the Aero Press system (still a great way to brew, BTW) and good old Cowboy coffee. My grounds of choice come from Peet's Coffee, and I take great pride in brewing a full-bodied cuppa Joe, whether I'm at home or out in the wilderness. ![]()
